Exeter City vs Tranmere Predictions

As we enter into the final stage of the season, there is still plenty to be decided in League Two as both the title race and the fight to stay in the division are still wide open. One area which is still open for several teams is the end of season play-offs, and this weekend sees two of the contenders go head to head as Exeter City welcome Tranmere Rovers to St James Park.

Exeter City put in a fantastic away performance against league leaders Lincoln in midweek but conceded an injury-time equaliser to draw 1-1. That result came on the back of a recent upturn in form which has seen the Grecians claim three wins in their last six outings. Despite losing their star striker in the January transfer window, the hosts have maintained their play-off spot and with a strong defence backing them up, they are looking good to stay in that spot come the end of the season.

Tranmere Rovers have put together three wins in their last four matches to leave them just two points off the League Two play-off spots. If the visitors are to accomplish a spot in the top seven at the end of the campaign then it will represent an excellent first season back in the Football League. Rovers won promotion from the National League last term but they will know that they need to work on their away record if they are to push on and accomplish that spot in the end of season play-offs.

The hosts are probably in their best form since the turn of the year and they will go into this match fully expecting to be able to claim all three points. That being said, however, they have conceded in 71% of their home matches and given that 82% of Tranmere’s away games have seen them find the back of the net, we think that backing both teams to score represents the best chance to get a decent return.
