FC Utrecht Reserves vs FC Oss Predictions

Huseyin Dogan’s 15th goal of the campaign proved enough to secure Oss’ first league win in six at home to Telstar last week, and Klaas Wels’ charges have a decent opportunity to follow up on match day 26 as they square off against bottom side Jong Utrecht at Sportpark De Westmaat. Whilst TOP still have questions to answer following a significant slide down the table, they should be good enough to get the job done here, with the hosts on a losing run of seven.

It’s too early to say that Oss are ready to turn a corner following a run of six matches without a victory, but their narrow 1-0 success over Telstar at Frans Heesen Stadion last week will have done them the world of good.

Despite their dismal slide in recent weeks, Oss’ strong start to the season at least means that they are still in touch with the Play-off places and they are only one point behind the top nine in 10th after Friday evening’s fixtures.

A win over Jong Utrecht this Monday will hike TOP back up to 8th in the standings, and that motivation should see them at least match the performance they turned in on match day 25.

And although Oss have lost their last two outings on the road (3-0 vs Den Bosch, 3-1 vs Jong PSV), their overall away record this term is strong, with six wins and two draws accrued from 12 games. That makes their odds of around evens appear fairly generous for Monday’s contest, even before we truly factor in the standard of opposition.

Jong Utrecht are 19th in the table with just 14 points on the board from 25 matches, and they head into this fixture on the back of seven consecutive defeats.

Jong were proving tricky for teams at home with a record of three wins, three draws and three defeats posted in Utrecht up until a few weeks ago, but they have now lost their last three at Sportpark De Westmaat following a 2-4 reversal against Go Ahead Eagles last week, which was far more comprehensive than the final score implies.

The hosts are six points detached from the rest, along with fellow basement dwellers Helmond Sport, and at the moment it’s hard to see how Jong can take points from anyone above them in the table.

So we are behind the visitors on Monday to land another crucial three points and repeat their victory over Jong earlier this season. That encounter finished 2-1 in favour of Klaas Wels’ men, and we’re predicting the same scoreline here. It won’t be straightforward for Oss as they seek a return to form, but they should have enough quality to pull through – especially with a prolific goalscorer like Huseyin Dogan in their ranks and back on song following last week’s winning strike against Telstar.
