Liverpool and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Leicester have lost nine of 17 home games this season, including defeats to each of the current top four. They meet a Liverpool side who have won their last six, but who have also conceded in 76% of their away trips this term. With the Foxes seeing both teams score in nine of their last 10, back the hosts to net in a defeat.

Liverpool 3-1

Reason for tip

Liverpool stand on the verge of being the first top-flight side in 21 years to win six straight games by a single goal. Considering Leicester’s plight, this should be a more comfortable evening for the Reds than their recent victories, so back them to claim a 3-1 win having hit 17 goals across their last six matches.

Mohamed Salah To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Salah has scored in six of his last seven games, hitting seven goals in that time. The forward averages a goal every other game on the road this season but with his recent hot streak taken into account, he should relish facing a Leicester defence who rank among the worst in the division.

Leicester City vs Liverpool Predictions

  • Leicester have lost all of their home clashes with the top four so far this season
  • Liverpool have won six straight games heading into this one
  • The hosts have seen both teams score in nine of their last 10 league games
  • Salah has scored in six of his last seven appearances

Problems mounting for Foxes

After a 5-3 humbling at the hands of Fulham earlier this week, Leicester’s survival hopes were already in tatters heading into the weekend. Monday’s clash with Liverpool could push them even closer to the Championship, with stand-in boss Dean Smith losing four of his five previous tussles with Jurgen Klopp.

It’s hard to imagine many of those five clashes saw Liverpool in the kind of form they enter this clash with. The visitors have won six straight league games, turning faint top-four hopes into genuine belief. While they need a slip-up from either Newcastle or Manchester United, the Reds will look to at least push it to the final day of the campaign.

Wide open Leicester can’t keep up

Oddly, Leicester have a better defensive record than each of Nottingham Forest, Bournemouth and Leeds while scoring considerably more than all three sides, yet they are below two and level with another. The Foxes are just unable to make their attacking threat count, while they are unreliable at the back having shipped 1.83 goals per game.

The hosts have seen both teams score in nine of their last 10 games, so they should be confident of hurting a Liverpool side who haven’t entirely convinced defensively this season. The Reds have conceded in 76% of their away trips, claiming only one away win to nil.

The hosts’ good scoring record should see them take at least one chance against Liverpool, but the visitors’ six-game winning streak has seen them score 17 times, including a 6-1 thumping away to third-bottom Leeds. With the Foxes losing all of their home meetings with the top four sides in the league, take an away win and both teams to score.

Salah to fire visitors to a comfortable win

The visitors should be fired on in this one by Mohamed Salah, who is out to become the first player to net 20+ league goals in three consecutive seasons for the Reds since Roger Hunt in the mid-60s. He’s only one goal shy and he heads into this encounter in brilliant form, having found the net in six of his last seven, scoring seven times. Despite that good form, he’s well-priced to net again against a hapless Leicester defence.

Given the quality of the hosts’ backline, this should be a comfortable win for Liverpool. Each of their last five Premier League games have seen them win by exactly one goal. In English top-flight history, there have been just five occasions of a side winning six straight matches by a one-goal margin, last occurring in 2002. Monday’s game should be more comfortable for Klopp’s side, so take them to claim a 3-1 win.
