Lincoln City vs Northampton Predictions

The last time Lincoln City and Northampton Town came head to head was in the FA Cup back in November and with that match ending up finishing in a five goal thriller which fell in the favour of the Imps, the next meeting between the two sides has plenty to live up to. That next clash between the sides comes this weekend, and with Lincoln City looking to go all the way and claim the League Two title, they will certainly be hoping for all three points in order to further their cause.

Lincoln City have suffered fairly indifferent form of late and the fact that they were only able to claim a point against bottom of the table Notts County last time out indicates that there is still plenty of work to be done if they are to accomplish their goal of winning the league. The Imps do have the benefit of an outstanding attack which has seen the side score in each of their last 14 league games, a fact which means it probably should not shock anyone to learn that they also have the second best offensive record in League Two.

Northampton Town battled to a midweek success over play-off hopefuls Tranmere Rovers that has left them 16th in League Two. That excellent 2-1 victory came over a side who have been excellent on home soil so far this season and will be seen as a performance to build upon ahead of this weekend’s difficult trip to Lincoln. The visitors have conceded 44 times in their 31 league matches so far and, while this is not the worst record in the division, it is one which will need to be improved if they are to start to climb the table.

Although Northampton had an excellent victory in midweek and will be boosted by the additional confidence that will bring, they have had less time to prepare for this match than their hosts and faced an uphill battle anyway. Lincoln have had a knack of being able to keep the chasing pack at arms length this season and we are backing them to take a step closer to the title with three points this weekend.
