      Liverpool vs FC Porto Predictions

Liverpool managed to reclaim the lead in the Premier League title race on Friday night, coming from a goal behind to beat Southampton late on and move two points clear at the top of the table. However, with Manchester City harbouring a game in hand below them, their lead is far from a safe one.

Jurgen Klopp will likely be prioritising bringing the Premier League to Anfield for the first time this season, but the Champions League won’t be far behind it and a quarter final clash against Porto offers up a fantastic opportunity for them to qualify for the semi finals.

That win over Southampton extended Liverpool’s unbeaten run to 14 matches in all competitions, nine of which have been victories. This includes their 3-1 aggregate win over Bayern Munich in the last 16 of the competition, and on paper Porto’s squad is a lot weaker than the Bundesliga giants’.

That being said, Porto have been excellent in the Champions League this season. The Portuguese side beat Roma 4-3 after extra time in their last 16 tie and were one of the few teams to make it through the group stages unbeaten earlier this year.

They beat Boavista 2-0 on Friday night to put them level on points with Primeira Liga leaders Benfica, but all of their focus will be squarely on making it past Liverpool in this devilishly difficult quarter final tie.

Porto are now unbeaten in six competitive games and have won eight of their last 10, but a clash with Liverpool represents a step up in terms of challenges. That being said, after losses against Napoli, PSG, and Red Star Belgrade in the group stages, the Portuguese visitors will feel they have a sliver of a chance.

One thing Porto have done excellently this season is finding a goal. They have scored in all eight of their Champions League matches and have failed to score just three times in all competitions this term. They have scored a total of 18 goals in the Champions League, and they’re facing a Liverpool side who have shipped eight goals in as many games in the competition.

We’re expecting a high scoring match on Tuesday. Each of Porto’s last six Champions League outings have seen at least three goals, as have four of Liverpool’s eight outings in the competition. In all competitions, Liverpool have seen at least three scored in each of their last five games, so backing Over 2.5 Goals here looks a great shout along with a 3-1 win for the hosts.

Sadio Mane is one Liverpool player who is catching our eye in the anytime goalscorer market too. The Senegalese attacker notched two away to Bayern Munich in their last Champions League match and has scored seven goals in his last seven games in all competitions, four of which have come in three games at Anfield.
