Notts County vs Newport County Predictions

Whilst the majority of League Two can only watch on, there are a handful of matches taking place on Tuesday evening as sides finally manage to play their games in hand and bid to improve their league position. One key fixture which is taking place is the clash between relegation threatened Notts County and a Newport County side who will have to get their heads back in the game following their FA Cup exit.

Notts County have had a season to forget so far and they currently find themselves rooted to the foot of the league. However, there have been signs of the green shoots of recovery of late. County held league leaders Lincoln City to a credible 1-1 draw a few weeks ago and they backed that result up with a 2-1 win away at Forest Green. The good form did not end there as they backed up those two good results with an excellent 1-0 win at home to title challenging Mansfield Town, and those solid results means that the Magpies can pull themselves out of the relegation zone with three points on Tuesday night.

Making the trip to Meadow Lane is a Newport County side who will have to bounce back from their FA Cup fifth round exit to Premier League giants Manchester City on Saturday. The visitors fought valiantly in that contest and went into the break still level, but ultimately the Premier League champions were too strong and ran away with a 4-1 victory. Newport will hope that they have not run the well dry and they will have to improve on an away record which has seen them fail to win in any of their last 10 matches on the road.

Notts County have been much improved since the January transfer window came to an end and the reinforcements they brought in are obviously having an impact. We think that their visitors will still be fatigued from their exploits in the cup and with a head to head record heavily in favour of the hosts, we think that backing a Notts County win is the only way to go in this one.
