      Reims vs Nimes Predictions

Reims made it three wins in four last week as they beat Montpellier 1-0 via an early Yunis Abdelhamid headed goal. It wasn’t a vintage performance from David Guion’s men but they deserved the win nevertheless to continue their rich vein of form. Reims have never been known as an attacking side, so much of their success over the last few years has been down to their rock solid defence. Reims have kept seven clean sheets in their ten Ligue 1 matches this season and have conceded the least number of goals in the division.

Four of these clean sheets have come in their five home matches as they have put together a great run of results in from of their own fans. Reims are drawn for the third lowest scoring team in Ligue 1 but they have been very consistent in their scoring, with goals coming from everywhere on the pitch, Boulaye Dia being the most clinical with three.

Reims will be tough opposition for this Nîmes side who are winless in their last four games. They were extremely poor in their last match as they barely created anything against Amiens in their 1-1 draw. Amiens had to wait until late on in the match to equalise but they controlled much of the match and Nîmes were very lucky to have held out so long without conceding.

Nîmes’ defence has really been the contributing factor to their dismay this season as they have conceded five goals in their last four games and have the fifth worst xGA in Ligue 1. Nîmes are also still to win away from home this season with three draws and two defeats making it a pretty turgid period of form on the road.

Reims look incredible at the moment with their extremely solid defence giving them the platform to beat anyone. They have managed to keep some very good attacking sides at bay like PSG and Monaco in recent weeks so we’re backing them to get another positive performance here against Nîmes. The Crocodiles have failed to score in two of their last three away days so we’re backing the hosts to win 1-0.
