      Watford vs Fulham Predictions

Watford will feel slightly hard done by after Saturday’s showing at Old Trafford, with the Hornets coming away from Manchester with nothing to show for it despite a performance that warranted a positive result against the lacklustre hosts.

However, that level of performance will provide a confidence boost ahead of an important period of fixtures for Watford. This clash with Fulham could potentially send them into 7th position, and their FA Cup semi final at the weekend will be at the forefront of their minds after Tuesday’s game.

Both the Premier League and the FA Cup provide Javi Gracia’s side with potential pathways into continental football. An FA Cup win would see them qualify for the Europa League, but should Manchester City lift the trophy at Wembley, then a 7th place finish in the league would grant them access to the European stage too.

Fulham have much less lofty goals on their mind, although their ambitions are all but finished now. A 2-0 defeat at home to Manchester City on Saturday leaves them 16 points adrift of Premier League safety, with just 18 points left to play for. Defeat on Tuesday would see them relegated after a woeful season, and even victory could see their fate sealed before the week is over.

It truly has been an awful return to the top flight for The Cottagers. They have lost 23 of their 32 league matches so far and conceded a league high of 72 goals in the process. The last eight outings have yielded a grand total of zero points, and they haven’t picked up a point away from home since before Christmas. To make matters even more bleak, Fulham haven’t won an away game all season in the league, picking up just two points in total.

Watford, on the other hand, have won half of their Premier League outings at Vicarage Road this season, and only one of their five home defeats has come against a team outside the Big Six. Even with the FA Cup semi final taken into consideration, we think backing a Watford Win on Tuesday is a fantastic choice to kick off the midweek offerings, so we’re going for that along with a 2-1 correct score prediction.
