Airdrieonians vs Raith Predictions
- Airdrieonians won three of their final four home Championship games last season and drew 0-0 with runaway leaders Dundee United in the other
- Raith Rovers failed to score in three of their final four away league matches last term
- Airdrieonians gave Aberdeen a run for their money in the cup and look more potent up front
Hosts can help themselves to three points
Airdrieonians can claim three points when they face Raith Rovers in the opening round of Scottish Championship fixtures on Saturday.
Unlike Rovers, the home side made it through the group stages of the Scottish League Cup with a couple of notable performances suggesting they are in better form right now.
Rhys McCabe’s men put Aberdeen under the pump at Pittodrie and should have been pleased with their showing against the Premiership outfit, despite eventually succumbing to a 2-1 defeat.
In-form Wilson is one to watch
They rounded off the group with a 2-0 win over Queen of the South that booked their place in the last-16 with summer signing Ben Wilson on the scoresheet again. The former Cliftonville hitman has bagged six goals in his first four games and looks to be real find at this level.
Raith kept the squad together this summer and with a couple of shrewd additions of their own, will hope to mount another promotion challenge.
However, scoring on the road proved to be a real problem at the back end of the regular season campaign and they will surely be beaten in this opener f they draw another blank.
