      Angers vs Nice Predictions

      • Nice are winless in their last eight away games with seven defeats along the way.
      • Angers have lost just two of their ten home matches this season and have kept six clean sheets in this time.
      • Angers have only scored more than one goal in one of their last twelve league matches.

Nice finally back on the up but aren’t without their issues

Nice were close to cutting ties with manager Patrick Vieira a few months ago when results weren’t going their way despite huge investment from the new owners. However, things look back on the up for le Gym now with four wins in their last six matches. They’ve scored 13 goals and conceded six in this time which is rather good form but the standard of opponent hasn’t been overly high which could hold them back here. Three of their recent wins have come against Toulouse and Metz who are both in the bottom four of Ligue 1 as well as fourth-tier Frejus.

Nice’s away form could also go against them here as they are winless in their last eight matches on the road with seven defeats and a draw. They’ve conceded 16 goals in this time with just six scored in return and defeats to teams like Ligue 2 Le Mans (2-3) as well as out-of-form Monaco (1-3) and Strasbourg (0-1) sides.

Steadfast Angers confident at the back

Angers will be eyeing up Nice’s away form with great intrigue as they enter this fixture. Le SCO have lost just two of their ten home matches this season, one of which was against second place Marseille, and will be rather confident ahead of this match. They’ve kept six clean sheets in this time and are actually drawn for the third least goals conceded at home this season.

Stéphane Moulin’s men have also won their last two games, both tricky fixtures away from home, as they beat fourth-tier Dieppe in the cup (3-1) and high-flying Nantes (2-1) in the derby. This has got the wind back in their sails following a soggy end to 2019 and Moulin will be hoping this can spur them to victory here.

The Stade Raymond-Kopa to prove vital?

These sides actually faced each other quite recently at the tail end of November with Nice winning 3-1. However, Angers had won the previous clash 3-0 and we think it could be a similar result this time as the teams return to the Stade Raymond-Kopa. Le Gym’s form is awful on the road while the hosts usually play their best football in front of their own fans so we’re backing this one to go the way of the home side.

Angers have only scored more than one goal in one of their last twelve league matches so we don’t think they’ll blast past Nice but with their strong defensive record we’re backing them to win 1-0. Four of Nice’s last seven defeats have all been by a one goal margin so we’re expecting the match to finish by this scoreline.
