Angers vs Rennes Predictions
- Angers have picked up just four points from a possible 18 in their last six Ligue 1 games.
- Rennes have drawn four of their last six league games.
- Angers have averaged 1.20 goals per game this season.
- Rennes have fared a little better, averaging 1.34 goals per game.
Tight game expected in Angers
Angers welcome Rennes to the Stade Raymond Kopa on Thursday with both sides hoping to progress to the next stage of the Coupe de France.
The hosts have struggled a bit in recent weeks, winning once and drawing once in their last six league games causing them to lose a little bit of ground in the race for the top five in Ligue 1. Scoring goals has been the main problem for the side as they drew blanks in four of those matches.
Rennes have fared a little better and currently occupy the coveted fifth spot in Ligue 1. Their recent form hasn’t been great however with four draws in their last six games. They’ve struggled to see games out and have averaged less than a goal a game across their recent run but have conceded just five in the same period.
It’s hard to imagine this being a goalfest with both sides struggling in the final third. They have similar records over the course of the season and this could lead to a very even game between the two sides. We’re not anticipating great things from this tie and we’re predicting the game finishes with under 2.5 goals.
Fine margins look like they could decide this match and we think Rennes just about edge things in a 1-0 win.
