Bayern Munich vs Wolfsburg Predictions

  • Bayern have won nine of their last ten games in all competitions and scored 29 goals during that spell.
  • Wolfsburg have lost their last six in all competitions, conceding 16 goals during that sequence.
  • Bayern have beaten Wolfsburg three times in a row at home with an aggregate score of 10-1 in those games.
  • At least three goals have been scored in seven of Bayern’s eight home Bundesliga games this season.

Bayern sprinting to the line as winter champions

The Bundesliga’s best face off against the team with the second-worst form in the final round of fixtures before the winter break. Bayern Munich are sprinting to the half-way mark and their 5-0 win at Stuttgart on Tuesday put Julian Nagelsmann’s side briefly nine points clear at the top.

Wolfsburg, on the other hand, are discovering that ex-coach Mark van Bommel wasn’t the sole reason behind their fall from top of the standings after four games to ninth by the end of October. Replacement Florian Kohfeldt elicited a response with three straight wins, but their midweek defeat to Cologne made it seven games without a win for the Wolves and six straight losses.

They got the perfect start on Tuesday through Lukas Nmecha’s early goal, and went 2-1 up just after the break, but still slumped to defeat in the closing stages. Confidence has been steadily eroding and it’s impossible to believe that they can avoid falling to the same fate against Der Rekordmeister this Friday.

Bayern’s recent home games closer than road victories

The Bavarians moved through the gears to dismiss mid-table Stuttgart 5-0 with two apiece for Serge Gnabry and Robert Lewandowski. Kingsley Coman picked up an apparent hamstring injury, but the quality didn’t drop when Leroy Sane came off the bench to replace him.

Bayern could win this very cosily with a number of handicap options looking quite appealing, but some of their home matches have been closer on the scoreboard than their road trips. One constant has been the amount of goals with the conditions here looking favourable for a Bayern to win and ‘overs’ bet.

Nagelsmann’s team are averaging 2.9 goals per game over their last ten outings, so will probably good for three themselves let alone whether Wolfsburg can get on the scoresheet – as they have done in five of their seven Bundesliga away games.

Our forecast, partially based on Bayern scoring ten and conceding only one in their past three home games against the Wolves, is for a 3-0 win.
