Brentford vs Fulham Predictions
There are a lot of effective dead rubbers in the Championship this weekend and this is one of them with both sides safe but neither in contention for the play-offs. However of those games, this could be the most entertaining and is certainly likely to be the most competitive with West London pride at stake. Brentford have taken 7 points from 3 games against Fulham since their neighbours were relegated from the top flight and will be confident of continuing that good run here. They’d won 5 out of 6 matches in the league prior to their 2-0 midweek defeat at promotion hopefuls Hull.
A Fulham defence that has the 2nd worst defensive record in the league is likely to provide their creative players with far greater opportunity to express themselves though in this game. The Cottagers have conceded 9 goals in 3 matches since winning 3 games on the spin and although they are now safe, they are the side directly above the relegation zone and will again look back on a poor season where their inability to defend has cost them dear.
At the other end they remain a real threat though with Dembele and McCormack boasting 36 goals between them. They are the 2nd most prolific strike partnership in the league behind Andre Gray and Sam Vokes at Burnley, who have 1 more goal between them but have been helped by 7 penalties. Fulham’s poor showing in their 3-1 home defeat to a badly out-of-sorts Nottingham Forest last time out won’t exactly fill Fulham fans with confidence ahead of this.
Their poor record against Brentford also suggests a home win is most likely but given Brentford have conceded in all of their last 6 and aren’t great at the back either, a high-scoring game is likely and backing Brentford to win and over 2.5 goals at 19/10 looks great value.
