Seagulls to build on Premier League opener

Brighton were held to a goalless draw by Tromso in their UEFA Conference League qualifier on Thursday, but a return to the AMEX Stadium should help them book their spot in the League Phase.

Fabian Hurzeler dominated possession last week and registered 25 shots in Norway, but they failed to find the target inside 90 minutes.

The Seagulls learned their lessons just days later as they hammered Aston Villa 4-0 at the weekend and another fixture on the south coast will only aid their chances of qualifying.

Hurzeler’s troops have kept four clean sheets in a row at home, keeping Strasbourg, Roma and Bologna at bay in pre-season, before their emphatic win over Unai Emery’s side.

Tromso have not travelled too well of late, having only won four of their last nine away matches and their performance in the first leg suggests they will be under the cosh from the spot.

Brighton have scored three or more goals in five of their last seven games and Thursday’s tie looks like it will be one-sided from the outset, as the Premier League club look to maintain their strong start to the campaign.
