Brisbane Roar have had a very good season, but with three games remaining they find themselves needing to outperform two teams in order to end the regular season at the top of the Hyundai A-League.

They are in 3rd position in the table, level on points with Melbourne City above them and just a point behind Western Sydney Wanderers at the top. None of the top three are in particularly good form at this crucial stage of the season though.

Brisbane Roar lost 3-1 to Melbourne City last weekend, a result which made it two wins, three defeats, and a draw in their last six outings in the A-League. Fortunately for them they are much better on home turf though. They have only lost one of their 12 A-League matches at the Suncorp Stadium this season, with nine of these 12 matches ending in victory for them.

Sydney FC finished as runners up in the A-League Premiership and Championship last season, but they find themselves in a bit of trouble now. They are outside of the playoff places in 7th having picked up just 31 points from their 24 games so far. This puts them three points behind last season’s champions Melbourne Victory and in real danger of not making the playoffs.

The host of midweek Asian Champions League games hasn’t helped them in recent weeks either, with the fixture congestion leaving them really struggling domestically. They come into this match having not won in nine A-League games, with five of those ending in defeat.

Brisbane Roar may not be in the best overall form but they are formidable at home, and they’re facing an out of form Sydney FC side on Saturday. This makes odds of 1/1 for a Brisbane Roar win look really attractive, and I’m backing that along with a 3-1 correct score prediction at 14/1.
