      Caen vs Angers Predictions

Caen have been pretty soggy this season, they’ll be the first to tell you that, but it’s a shame to see them sliding towards the bottom of the table with a bit of a whimper rather than a bark. Two weeks ago they got a miraculous victory over Monaco, beating them 1-0 at the Stade Louis II. This result looked like the catalyst to send them on a fantastic run out of the drop zone and into safety. However, that was not the case as they reverted to their mediocrity at the weekend as they lost 2-0 to Nîmes with les Caennaise having just one shot on target.

Caen have won just four games all season, just one in 2019, and it’s pretty obvious why they find themselves where they are as they have kept just two clean sheets in their last 18 league games, conceding 30 goals along the way. Caen have managed just four shots on target in their last three games and with them boasting the worst home record in the league, it could get pretty messy as they host a buoyant Angers side.

Angers haven’t lost any of their last five matches but with them all being draws, there is clearly something missing in this Angers side. Some of the draws were against very formidable teams like Marseille, Rennes and Montpellier but they really should have beaten Monaco and Amiens who are currently both drawn for points in 17th place. Last week’s game was probably their most dramatic of this run of games as Jeff Reine-Adélaïde scored his second goal of the game deep into injury time to salvage a point for les Scoïstes.

Angers have been fantastic going forward recently but obviously their lack of defensive solidity has held them back as they have conceded ten times in their last six games. They have a great opportunity to break the mould of drawing as they face a very weak Caen side but do they have the quality to beat them here?

It’s bound to be an extremely tight match as Caen are approaching last chance saloon in terms of their survival bid. They have failed to score in four of their last five home league matches and face an Angers side with six goals in their last four away games. Angers have also been terrible defensively recently though and have kept just one clean sheet in their last six games. Both teams scored when these teams met in December and we’re backing that to happen again in a 2-1 win for Angers. We’re also backing Angers to score over 1.5 goals as they have done so in four of their last five games and face a Caen side who are horrible at the back.
