Celta Vigo vs Deportivo La Coruna Predictions

Both teams made strong starts to the season but only Celta Vigo have been able to carry that form on into the second half of the campaign. They’ve bounced back well from a 7-1 hammering at Real Madrid to win games against Real Sociedad and Valencia and they come into this game riding high in 5th place and almost certainly on course for the Europa League. They are 6 points behind 4th place Villarreal and the Champions League may be a bit beyond them but another win here will keep them in with a shout particularly if the Yellow Submarine drops points in their game.

Deportivo La Coruna were always likely to fall away a little having narrowly beaten the drop last term. However they had gone 3 months and 15 games without a win in all competitions until they beat bottom club Levante 2-1 at home last time out. That was a much needed boost coming into this game against their big rivals and has moved them back into the top half and further away from the relegation scrap, which they were in danger of really getting sucked into.

Depor needed a late own goal to win that game though so it’s far too soon to talk about any kind of revival. Only 2 teams in the league have won fewer games than them this term and they have been leaking goals of late. They’d let in 10 goals in their 3 games prior to that success and Celta have some dangerous attacking players who could really make them pay here. Therefore consider backing Celta Vigo to win 3-1 at 12/1.
