Dynamo Kiev vs Besiktas Predictions
Dynamo Kiev are enduring a turbulent season so far, and as the New Year fast approaches they find themselves seven points adrift of the top spot in the Ukrainian Premier League and already eliminated from Europe.
This is their final European match of the season, with them sitting bottom of their group and five points off the 3rd place position that would get them into the Europa League knockout stages.
Dynamo Kiev have improved a bit recently though. They managed a draw away to Napoli in their last group match and have won four and drawn two of their last six outings in all competitions. At home they have now won four on the bounce, but both of their Champions League hostings have ended in defeat so far.
Besiktas will be going all out for the win as well. The 3rd placed side are still in with a good shout of claiming not only a qualifying spot, but the top spot. They have seven points compared to Napoli and Benfica’s eight points above them. Should they win they will be guaranteed a knockout position, and if the other match ends all square they will take the group win.
Besiktas are struggling a bit at the moment though. They are still proving incredibly difficult to beat and remain undefeated competitively in normal time since the end of last season, but they have only won two of their last five in all competitions.
Away from home it does look more promising though. They have won six and drawn two of their last eight trips away, including a stunning 3-2 win away to Napoli and a 1-1 draw at Benfica. Ricardo Quaresma and Vincent Aboubakar have three Champions League goals apiece so far, and with two of Aboubakar’s coming away from home, backing him to score anytime looks the best option for our goalscorer predictions.
On the balance of things I think the scales are tipping in Besiktas’ favour. Dynamo Kiev have nothing left to play for in Europe and will be looking ahead to their clash against top of the table Shakhtar Donetsk next week, whilst Besiktas know full well that a win would send them through to the knockout stages. They have also impressed away from home this season, so backing them to win at 5/4 looks good to me. I’m going for a 2-1 correct score predictions at 8/1 as well.
