Genoa Double Chance (Win or Draw)

Reason for tip

Fiorentina have failed to win four of their last six Serie A home games while Genoa have avoided defeat in seven of their last eight away league matches.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Genoa have drawn four of their last seven Serie A away games while scoring in six of their last eight road games. They average only one goal per game across that sequence, but have conceded less than a goal per game over it. Fiorentina have scored no more than one goal in their last three home games in all competitions, so a 1-1 draw appears a likely outcome.

La Viola may struggle to justify short odds

Fiorentina should be opposed when they face improving Genoa on Monday just three days before their crucial Europa Conference League quarter-final second leg.

La Viola’s obsession with the European competition, having come so close to winning it last year, means Vincenzo Italiano will have no problem resting key players from this clash ahead of the upcoming return clash with Viktoria Plzen.

Fiorentina are not as consistent as they once were at home anyway, having lost two and drawn two of their last six league outings at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

Rossoblu are rarely beaten on the road

They will come up against a Genoa side that has lost only once in their last eight away trips and proved that they are not winding down for the campaign with their 2-1 victory at Hellas Verona last Sunday.

Icelandic forward Albert Gudmundsson got the winner – his third goal in his last four Serie A appearances – and can lead the Fiorentina defence a merry dance again this weekend.

La Viola have been involved in some close games of late, losing by the odd goal to second-placed AC Milan and third-placed Juventus following draws against Torino and Roma. And a 1-1 draw could be the outcome of this clash with Genoa having produced stalemates in four of their last seven away Serie A assignments.
