Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Both teams have scored in 11 of Lille’s 14 home league games this season, as well as seven of their last ten fixtures at all venues. Montpellier meanwhile have seen both teams net in three successive games

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

While Lille are unbeaten at home since August, Montpellier have lost just once in eight games under new boss Michel Der Zakarian, scoring exactly once in five of those outings, and conceding exactly once on three occasions. Lille meanwhile have conceded exactly once in four of their last six matches, but only failed to score in one of their last 11 in all competitions

Lille vs Montpellier Predictions

  • Seven of Lille’s last ten games have seen both teams score
  • Both teams have netted in four of Montpellier’s last six outings
  • Lille are unbeaten in 14 home outings across all competitions

Can Lille respond?

Lille’s hopes of breaking into the top four were dealt a huge blow last weekend as they lost 1-0 at Angers, failing to score for only the second time in their last 14 outings.

That result means they head into the weekend in fifth place in the table, but they should be confident of bouncing back to form at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, where they have not lost since defeats to PSG and Nice in August.

Paulo Fonseca’s side could do with tightening up at the back though, as seven of their last ten outings have seen both teams score, as have 11 of their 14 home league fixtures this season.

Montpellier on a good run

Montpellier are another side who lost last time out, falling to a 2-1 defeat to Toulouse as both teams netted for the third game running.

They have been in good form of late though, with a run of one defeat in eight outings, scoring in each of those games, seeing them pull clear of the relegation zone.

Each of those fixtures have come under new manager Michel Der Zakarian, who will be hoping his side can improve on their record of netting in seven of their last eight away Ligue 1 matches.

I predict that both teams will score in this game, as both are strong in front of goal, but it is hard to call a winner, so a 1-1 draw is my correct score prediction.
