Linas-Montlhery vs PSG Predictions
- PSG have scored at least four goals in nine of their last 18 Coupe de France matches.
- The Parisians have scored 22 goals in their last six matches, all ending as wins.
- The sixth-tier hosts have conceded seven goals in their last five games despite sitting on top of their league.
The sixth-tier hosts hopeful of a famous upset
One of the best things about the Coupe de France is that it includes pretty much every group of 11 guys with a ball in France. Over 8000 teams compete in the competition every year, for reference, the FA Cup had 736 competing teams last year, and you can often get some incredible stories and bizarre fixtures.
This match is one of those fixtures. Linas-Montlhéry will be hosts for this game and with them currently sitting atop the sixth tier of France, they will absolutely be quite confident of snatching a famous victory. It has so far been a solid season for Linas-Montlhéry as they sit one point clear at the top of the table but they have really had to fight for it. They haven’t exactly been blasting past teams and could really do with some improvements in many areas, especially their defence.
They haven’t kept a single clean sheet in their last five matches with seven goals conceded along the way. They’ve only won one of these games with three draws and a loss pegging them back and keeping their lead at the top to just one point. Much of their success this season has come in this tremendous cup run with two recent wins over teams in the division above them seeing them to this point of the competition. They will be right up for this coming game but will have to really withstand the force of a PSG side on top of their game.
PSG in typical fantastic form
Paris have been at their relentless best in recent weeks with six wins on the trot keeping their confidence sky high. They’ve scored a whopping 22 goals in this time with just three conceded and they’ll be looking to keep up this scoring form in their first match of 2020. Thomas Tuchel’s men will be the away side for this fixture but with ten wins coming in their last dozen matches on the road, they should be fairly confident of progressing to the next round here.
In recent years Paris have dominated this comeptiotn with four of the last five year’s trophies currently sitting in their cabinet at the Parc des Princes. However, they did slip up in their last attempt to regain their title as they lost on penalties in the final to Rennes. This was an unprecedented result as the underdogs snatched the win but this will only serve as more motivation for the capital club here. It was their first defeat in 30 games in the Coupe de France and they’ll be looking to get back to winning ways here.
Starstruck hosts to falter?
Paris have scored at least four goals in nine of their last 18 Coupe de France matches and despite the obvious excitement from Linas-Montlhéry, we’re backing a rather one-sided win for the away team here. They have been in incredible form and will want to start 2020 with a confident win. Linas-Montlhéry aren’t even a good defensive side in their own division so with the best team in France getting ready to attack their backline, we’re backing a 4-0 victory for PSG. We’re also going to back the under 4.5 team goals market for Paris though as they haven’t scored more than four in any of their last eleven Coupe de France matches and with Linas-Montlhéry currently atop their league, we don’t see it happening here.
