Lyon vs Reims Predictions

Reims are the value for a road result

Reims look good value to get a result at Groupama Stadium on Saturday when they will face a Lyon side that have been faring better on the road recently.

The overall path of Pierre Sage’s side is one of progress as the coach has arguably done enough during his four-month tenure to deserve a longer spell in charge. Lyon have won nine of 14 Ligue 1 matches since they got rid of Fabio Grosso in December with five defeats and no draws.

Four of those nine wins have come at home, but three of them were by the slenderest of 1-0 margins. Lyon have been able to express themselves more on the road, scoring two or more goals in each of their last four away league fixtures.

Still’s set-up is ideal for away games

Reims will arrive in the Rhone-Alpes region on the back of a 2-1 home win over struggling Metz. Will Still’s team deserved the three points that keeps them four clear of Lyon ahead of this fixture.

They also seem to enjoy playing away from home and recently returned from the Parc des Princes with a point after a 2-2 draw with Paris Saint-Germain. Still’s disciplined 4-4-1-1 system seems ideally suited to getting results on the road — they have taken points in eight of their 13 away games and scored in 11.

Lyon may have better overall form right now, bit their odds are too short for this matchup against a good away team. It is no fluke that Reims still sit above Lyon in the table and the visitors are capable of maintaining the gap with a draw, or perhaps better, here.
