Melbourne Victory vs Brisbane Roar Predictions
- Melbourne Victory are enjoying the longest currently active unbeaten streak in the division (W5, D4).
- Brisbane Road are the worst performing away side in the A-League (W1, D2, L7).
- Melbourne manager Anthony Popovic is unbeaten in six straight personal H2Hs with Brisbane.
- Melbourne have not conceded a goal across the last 270 minutes of play.
Victory is the aim for Melbourne
Currently enjoying a terrific nine-game unbeaten run in A-League action, Melbourne Victory have their eyes set firmly on the title race, sitting 12 points behind the top of the table but with a 12-point gap to make up.
Victories against current champions Melbourne City and 2018/19 premier winners Perth Glory across their last two games certainly inspire confidence amongst the ranks ahead of this clash with a Brisbane side who look likely to play out another poor campaign.
Brisbane’s ‘Roar’ is more dangerous than their bite
While four of Brisbane’s paltry five-point away haul was picked up across their last two road trips, they remained the worst travelling side in the A-League (W1, D2, L7).
Playing away is tough in this division though, as Brisbane must travel upwards of 1700 kilometres to get here, which partly explains why all but three sides average more points at home than away ahead of this round.
We predict that four-time Australian champions Melbourne will make it ten straight A-League games for the first time since a 13 game run ending in December 2014! For smaller stakes, we are going for another Melbourne defensive masterclass in a 2-0 home win.
