Nantes vs Bastia Predictions & Betting Tips, Match Previews

Nantes are perennially occupying the lower portions of the Ligue 1 table in recent times, but based on the evidence of this season they will be slipping a bit further down by the time May rolls around.

They kicked their campaign off in positive fashion when they beat the newly promoted Dijon 1-0 away from home, but back to back 1-0 defeats to Monaco and Bordeaux followed.

They managed to sneak another two points into the bag with draws against Nancy and Saint Etienne, but last weekend saw Nantes return to losing ways when Marseille came from behind to beat them 2-1. This leaves them without a win in six games and in 18th position in Ligue 1. They have also lost two and drawn one of their three home games this season, a record which needs improving on fast.

Bastia are another side who have been lingering in the mid-table positions in recent seasons, albeit slightly higher up in the rankings than Nantes. The new season has started in decent, if unspectacular fashion as well.

They opened with a relatively respectable 1-0 defeat at home to PSG, before bagging their first points with a 3-0 thrashing away to Lorient. A 2-0 loss at Caen set the pace for their inconsistent performances, and a 2-1 win at home to Toulouse reinforced that.

Since then Bastia have lost to Saint Etienne, drawn against Nancy, and beaten Guingamp, in that order. This has taken them to a familiar position in 10th place in Ligue 1. Their performances have shown glimpses of real quality at times this season, but they just need to improve on their consistency to push up the table.

Bastia have only won one of their away matches this season, but they’re facing a side who are without a win at home this term, and stretching back into last season Nantes have only won one of their last seven home games in Ligue 1, losing five. This makes odds of 4/5 for a Bastia Win or Draw Double Chance look an excellent backing, and I’m going for that along with a 1-0 correct score prediction at 15/2.
