New Zealand U23 vs Honduras U23 Predictions
- New Zealand scored from their only shot on target against South Korea.
- The Olywhites have two wins and a defeat from three games in 2021.
- Honduras have just one win in their last six games (D3, L2).
Olywhites can edge closer to knockout stages
New Zealand got their Olympics campaign off to a perfect start with a 1-0 win over South Korea and they take on Honduras in their second group game on Sunday.
Honduras somehow slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Romania despite dominating. Incredibly, Romania failed to register a single shot on target as an own goal from defender Elvin Oliva settled the tie.
La Bicolor Olimpica had five shots on target themselves from 17 attempts in total and had they been a little more ruthless in attack they could have picked up a comfortable win. However, they now face the prospect of having to get a result against an Olywhites outfit who showed real resilience in defence against South Korea.
Admittedly, the Kiwis were lucky to beat South Korea after scoring with their only shot on target from just 38% possession but they did look strong in defence and we feel they can get another result against the Hondurans.
A New Zealand or draw result in the double chance market has some appeal here, and given Honduras’ struggles to break down Romania we feel 0-0 has a good chance in the correct score market.
