Newport County vs Cheltenham Predictions

Newport County were given a second chance last week when their game against Barnet was called off at half time. County were 1-0 down in the opening minute and never looked like they were in the game as the rain came and soaked Rodney Parade. The sides made it to half time but the referee had deemed that the pitch was too waterlogged to continue and called the match off. That result was a bit of a blessing for Newport as they have struggled so far this season and they currently find themselves in 20th place so getting a second shot at the three points may become invaluable come the end of the campaign.

Cheltenham are not exactly enjoying life back in the Football League and after six games they currently sit in 17th position. The Robins have struggled away from home and have only recorded two wins on the road so far. With just one win from their six games this campaign they will know that they will have to start putting wins on the board if they are to avoid an immediate return to non-league football. One thing that Cheltenham can take heart from is a massive 7-1 victory when the two sides reserve teams came head to head earlier this week, a result which will have caused both managers to sit up an take notice.

It’s an interesting one to call as both sides are out of form and both have been far from prolific in front of goal. This is also true in the head to head between these sides as there has only been four goals in the four meetings. We were looking to back there to be under 2.5 goals but the odds meant there was no value in this bet so we instead are going to back “Both Teams to Score – No” at 5/6 with bet365.
