Nice and Both Teams To Score

Reason for tip

Nice have been struggling for form lately, failing to win any of their last five Ligue 1 games, but should still be too strong for Montpellier who have lost six of their last seven away league games. However, the visitors have scored eight times in their last five games and could find the net at the Allianz Riviera.

Nice 2-1

Reason for tip

While Montpellier should have enough to find the net in Nice – having bagged in a Coupe de France meeting last month – it seems unlikely they will score more than once. The hosts are strong defensively at home, keeping a clean sheet in nine of their last 11 Ligue 1 games at the Allianz Arena, so expect a tight affair.

Nice vs Montpellier Predictions

  • Nice have won four of the six previous meetings, avoiding defeat against these opponents in that run
  • Montpellier have lost six of their last seven away league games
  • Nice are winless in their last five Ligue 1 games and have lost six of their last 11

Nice can end nasty winless run

After winning six Ligue 1 home games in a row, Nice have failed to take three points from either of their last two – losing to Monaco and drawing with bottom-side Clermont.

However, they have a great opportunity to rectify that form as Friday will see them welcome 16th-placed Montpellier, who have lost six of their last seven away league games.

Nice have won four of their last six meetings with Montpellier and will be confident of snapping a five-game Ligue 1 winless streak on Friday night.

Montpellier may have enough to net in defeat

Although, while Nice should be too strong for their visitors, they may not have things all their own way.

Their defensive record had been exceptional this season, but that solidity seems to have diminished of late, particularly when shipping three goals at home to Monaco and when conceding twice in a loss to mid-table Toulouse in their latest outing.

Montpellier are not short of goals either, having netted in each of their last five games and scoring eight times in that run.

These two sides met in the Coupe de France just last month in a clash that saw Nice win 4-1. That shows Montpellier clearly have what it takes to breach their hosts’ backline and they should be backed to score in defeat on Friday.
