Nottingham Forest vs Rotherham Predictions

Neither of these sides have a permanent manager at the helm which is testament to the messy kind of seasons that they’ve had. Paul Warne is in caretaker charge of Rotherham and is arguably doing better than the managers who’ve overseen them on a permanent basis this term, although will still need to perform a miracle to keep them in the division. Forest meanwhile are yet to replace Philippe Montanier, who was sacked over a fortnight ago. A move for Burton boss Nigel Clough, is said to be in the pipeline but it’s unlikely he’ll be appointed in time to oversee affairs here.

Even so, this is a game Forest clearly should win. Rotherham have been awful on their travels this season. They’ve collected only 1 point away from the New York Stadium, losing 93% of their away Championship fixtures. They’ve conceded an alarming 2.86 goals per game in those matches, scoring just 0.71 themselves.

While a lack of quality is tough to compensate for, what is unforgivable is their tendency to really fall apart once they fall behind and there have been a series of dire 2nd Half displays. They’ve conceded 35 goals in the 2nd Half of matches in the league this term. That is more than most sides in this league have let in over 90 minutes. 57% of their goals conceded have come in the 2nd Half and 59% of their goals scored have come in the 1st Half, which suggests Forest fans shouldn’t panic if their side aren’t ahead at the interval.

Forest score a lot of goals at home with 1.69 netted per game at the City Ground in the Championship this season. A massive 68% of those goals have come in the 2nd Half. All of their last 4 home goals have come after the interval and they’ve resulted in Forest collecting 7 precious points as they look to keep their noses above the relegation battle.

Their tendency to score after the break bodes well here against a Rotherham side that struggles to keep it together at the back, particularly in the 2nd Half and therefore backing Nottingham Forest 2nd Half Result at 21/20 looks like it could offer real value in this game.
