Oldham vs Morecambe Predictions

Oldham Athletic once again are having to adapt to life under a new regime as former Stevenage boss Dino Maamria has been appointed as their new head coach on a two-year deal after sacking Laurent Banide. There is little time for the new man to adapt to his new surroundings as he is straight into action this weekend in a vital game at the bottom of the division as his side welcome fellow strugglers Morecambe.

The hosts parted company with Frenchman Laurent Banide after a turbulent few months at the club. The 51-years-old was was relieved of his duties after winning only two of his 11 matches in charge. The man stepping up to his plate is not exactly a stranger to League Two as Maamria was sacked by Stevenage earlier this month after they failed to win any of their opening seven league games this season.

Making the trip to Boundary Park and hoping to spoil the coronation is a Morecambe side who will be determined to earn three points as they bid to improve their own recent poor start to the season. The visitors have managed just six points from their opening nine matches and know that if they are defeated at the weekend then that gap towards the sides ahead will start to look daunting.

Although Oldham will be hoping for the new manager bounce in order to help them claim three points, the frequency they have changed boss of late may undermine this. Instead, we think that the fact that they have scored and conceded two goals in each of their last three outings is a better indication of what will happen in this fixture.

When you also factor in that this clash is between two sides who feature towards the bottom of the goals conceded table, we think that the likelihood of either keeping a clean sheet is low. With this in mind, we think that backing both teams to score is the way to go.

We may doubt the new manager bounce effect in this fixture, but we also have to factor in that Morecambe have an awful away record. With this in mind, we think Oldham should be able to edge it and our correct score tip sees us backing a 2-1 home win.
