Orlando City vs New England Revolution Predictions
After a promising start to the season, Orlando City finally caved in last weekend and fell to a defeat at the hands of Philadelphia Union. The visiting Orlando City squad went a goal down after just two minutes, and despite managing to equalise just before half-time it proved fruitless as Tranquillo Barnetta notched a 90th minute winner.
This may have ended their unbeaten start to the season, but their opening month is still a promising start to the campaign, and they will be hoping it leads to playoff qualification after they missed out in their debut MLS season.
Orlando City opened the campaign with back to back draws at home to Real Salt Lake and Chicago Fire, but they followed this with wins against New York City and Portland Timbers before their defeat last weekend. This leaves them up in 3rd in the MLS Eastern Conference.
New England Revolution find themselves one point behind Orlando City in 4th position, but they’ve played a game more than their opponents. They too have only lost once this season, with them too falling prey to Philadelphia Union in their 3rd match of the season. Apart from that defeat they have drawn against Houston Dynamo, DC United, and Toronto FC and beat New York Red Bulls.
Away from home they have only won one of their last seven MLS games though, with four defeats giving them a points tally of just five during this period. Orlando City haven’t lost on home turf since July, with six of their ten MLS games since then seeing them collect all three points and five of their last seven giving them a victory.
This makes odds of 11/10 for an Orlando City win look good value to me, so I’m backing that along with a 2-1 correct score prediction at 15/2.
