Port Vale vs Brentford Predictions
- Port Vale haven’t played a game in almost a month
- Brentford scored 12 times across four Carabao Cup ties this term
- Marcus Forss scored five times in three League Cup starts
Tough return for Vale
Port Vale are set to play their first match in almost a month this weekend, with a difficult tie ahead of them. The League Two playoff hopefuls meet a Brentford side who are pushing for the top-half in the top-flight, with another cup run within their sights.
The hosts will return from a 2-1 loss to Newport in their last game, while they were eliminated from the Carabao Cup by League One Sunderland in the First Round earlier this term. With a lack of match fitness likely, back the hosts to struggle.
Expect strong Bees’ showing
Brentford returned to form with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa last weekend and they should take this clash seriously. The Bees have made the semi-finals and quarter-finals in their last two Carabao Cup campaigns, while they fielded a strong side in the FA Cup last term.
In their cup campaign earlier this season, Brentford won 3-1 and 7-0 against League Two sides Forest Green and Oldham. With Port Vale struggling for fitness, the Bees can pull off another big win.
Marcus Forss should step in for Ivan Toney here and the Finn scored five goals in three starts in the Carabao Cup this term. He’s a great anytime scorer pick here, while I back him to help Brentford to breeze by Port Vale. Back the visitors to score at least three goals, with a 3-1 victory my correct score prediction.
