Preston to Win

Reason for tip

Preston have won five of their nine home games, losing just twice, and should be able to make home advantage count on Friday. North End are coming up against a QPR side who are winless in six way from home (D2, L4) and find themselves in the relegation places, so back the hosts to claim maximum points.

Preston 2-1

Reason for tip

Preston have five home wins in the Championship this season and four of those have been 2-1 successes, while all five have been by one-goal margins. The Lancashire outfit haven’t managed a home clean sheet in any competition all season and QPR come into the game after a 4-2 win over Stoke. That suggests the visitors can at least get on the scoresheet, so a 2-1 win for Preston appeals.

Milutin Osmajic To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Milutin Osmajic is Preston’s joint top-scorer with four Championship goals. The Montenegrin has scored in each of his last three appearances at Deepdale, against Southampton, Coventry and Cardiff, and he looks the best candidate for an anytime effort.

Preston vs QPR Predictions

  • Preston have 28 points from 18 games, 15 more than QPR.
  • North End have won five of their nine home games (D2, L2).
  • QPR are winless in six away from home (D2, L4).

Preston can end mini-slump

Preston’s play-off bid has been dented by back-to-back defeats but the visit of struggling QPR looks like an excellent opportunity to get back to winning ways.

North End remain well placed in seventh spot despite losses to Cardiff and Middlesbrough. They have picked up 28 points from their 18 games so far, 15 more than QPR who come into the latest round of fixtures in the drop zone.

Deepdale still a stronghold for North End

Preston went down 2-1 to Cardiff in their last home games but they played most of the second half with 10 men after Robbie Brady’s dismissal, and it took two injury time goals to deny them any points – with the Bluebirds hitting a 99th minute winner.

That was just Preston’s second home defeat of the season and if they can keep their full quota on the pitch they should have far too much for QPR.

The West London outfit are winless in their last six away from home, losing four of those games, and they’ve scored just two goals during that run.

As such, a home win looks the best option for our main bet and a 2-1 victory for Preston has a chance in the correct score market.

QPR have struggled for goals on the road all season – hitting just seven in 10 trips – but they do come into this game after a morale-boosting 4-2 win over Stoke and Preston are yet to keep a clean sheet at home in any competition.

North End have shared the goals around this season and Milutin Osmajic is their joint top-scorer with four goals. The Montenegrin has scored in each of his last three appearances at Deepdale, against Southampton, Coventry and Cardiff, and he looks the best candidate for an anytime effort.
