PSG vs Club Brugge Predictions
With Real Madrid struggling, PSG are cruising towards first place in this group. They are a victory away from confirming their place in the last 16, and they could even wrap up first with two games to spare. However, the French side need to bounce back from a shock setback in Ligue 1. Can they return to winning ways and add to a fantastic run of form at home?
The hosts were beaten 2-1 by Dijon on Friday night, which means they have a measly seven-point lead as we enter November. There’s little doubt about PSG’s domestic success this season, but they will want to finally make a difference in the Champions League. After years of near-misses, their great start suggests this could be the year.
Meanwhile, Club Brugge are targeting third in this top-heavy group. The Belgian side made headlines with their thrilling draw at Real Madrid, but they were thumped by PSG in the last round of games. That has left the Belgians in third – on course for the Europa League – although they are just two points shy of Real in second.
Realistically, this group was always a fight for first between the two giants and the other two looking to avoid finishing bottom. Now, at the halfway point, PSG are easing towards top spot and look a cut above anyone in the group. So far the French side have won every game without conceding a goal. Having thumped Brugge 5-0 in the away meeting, we expect a comfortable win for the hosts this time around.
Brugge have scored just twice in this group – the two goals gifted to them by Real Madrid. Their two blanks in three games suggest that PSG have little to worry about at the back, especially with the hosts winning to nil in seven of their previous eight home games. That great run shows how well PSG are defending, so we are going with a win to nil for the French giants as our first tip for this clash.
We expect PSG to keep their clean sheet streak up, and they should have little trouble winning this clash. Brugge slipped up towards the end of the last meeting and shipped four goals in the final half-hour. That may not be repeated here, but we are backing the French side to wrap up the points. We are backing a 3-0 victory for the Ligue 1 champions here.
