PSV vs Heracles Predictions
Eredivisie champions PSV are currently sitting in third place in the table, outside of the two Champions League spots. They were widely expected to retain their title this term, but things haven’t exactly gone to plan so far. They’ll be hoping for another win over Heracles this weekend, a side they are pretty used to beating.
In 12 matches at home to Heracles, PSV have won every single one. That impressive record is probably reflected in PSV’s match odds of 2/11. They’re massive favourites to see off the visitors. When you look at the away side’s recent form, no wins in their last six, it’s easy to see why the champions are so short to claim all three points.
The 13th placed side in the Eredivisie have one of the worst away records in the league, having failed to win any of their first four on the road. However, they’ve drawn three of those, and conceded just five times. They might provide PSV with a little more resistance than many predict.
The odds point towards this being a high scoring game, bet365 price over 2.5 goals at 4/11. It’s hard to see quite why goals are being backed so heavily. In three home matches, PSV have managed just a single goal. They haven’t been conceding at Philips Stadion either. They’ve let in one goal, that came against league leaders Feyenoord. All three of their home league games have been goalless at half time.
With just one scored and one conceded at this ground, obviously none of PSV’s games have seen over 2.5 goals. These fans have yet to see more than one goal at home in the league, while their only Champions League match here was a 1-0 defeat. Heracles aren’t quite as goal-shy, but just 25% of their away games have seen more than two goals.
The champions have been trying to improve their record, but they’re wasteful in front of goal. Their attacking stats don’t make for great reading for manager Philip Cocu. They’ve averaged 22 shots per game at home, scored 0.3 goals per match, giving them a conversion rate of just 1%. That’s a downright awful return.
Heracles’ should also get a foothold in this game. They’ve averaged 52% of possession in their four away games. While they haven’t done all that much with it, they are good on the ball, and strong in regaining possession once they lose it.
Having looked through the stats, it’s tough to back over 2.5 goals at such low odds. We think this will be a low scoring affair, and it should end with PSV maintaining their perfect record at home to Heracles. We’re backing a home win and under 3.5 goals here, that’s priced at 13/10 with bet365.
