QPR vs Swindon Predictions
QPR were one of the most impressive sides on the opening weekend of the new Championship campaign. The Londoners cruised to a 3-0 win against Leeds in what was expected to be a close fought game, with almost everything going right from the moment Nedum Onuoha fired them ahead in just the 4th minute. There is less expectancy on QPR this term than there was in their first season back in the Championship and some of their big names have gone but if the first day is anything to go by, that may just allow some of their lesser-lights to shine.
They’ve only won 3 League Cup ties in total in the past 5 seasons so they’ll be hopeful of improving on that here, particularly after an embarrassing early exit at home to Carlisle last term. Momentum can be a big thing in football and although Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink is likely to rotate his team, he will be anxious that they perform well again and the feel good factor they built up at the weekend doesn’t disappear.
Swindon lost their final three pre-season friendlies but they won’t be worrying about that now having seen off Coventry 1-0 on the opening day of the new campaign in League One. They had to be patient though with Yaser Kasim’s strike 4 minutes from time sealing the win and will head to Loftus Road in good spirits.
QPR have some quality in reserve though and will be able to bring in players of the quality of Jordan Cousins and Conor Washington here. They’ll all be keen to prove a point, particularly given how well some of their rivals for starting places did at the weekend and the home team’s extra class should show over 90 minutes. Backing QPR to win at 4/5 looks to offer good value here.
