RB Leipzig to Win and Over 2.5 Match Goals

      Reason for tip

All four of RB Leipzig’s matches this season have gone over 2.5 goals, including their 3-0 success over Borussia Monchengladbach in their opening home fixture, and with Hamburg having shipped five against Mainz last time out, a high-scoring home win looks like the play.

      RB Leipzig 3-1

      Reason for tip

RB Leipzig scored three without reply in their home opener against Borussia Monchengladbach and they can match that tally on Sunday, but after shipping seven goals across away games against Werder Bremen and Como, their high-line approach to defending could leave them vulnerable and Hamburg can get on the scoresheet.

      RB Leipzig vs Hamburg Predictions

      • RB Leipzig have won each of their last four meetings with Hamburg
      • Hamburg have lost their opening two Bundesliga games by an aggregate score of 7-0
      • All four of Leipzig’s matches this season have gone over 2.5 goals

      Demichelis seeking a response

RB Leipzig began life under new head coach Martin Demichelis with back-to-back wins, but they have since lost 3-1 at Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga and 4-1 at Como in the Champions League, with their defensive high-line being particularly exposed against the Italians.

Demichelis will now be demanding a response from his side and he should get that against the division’s bottom club, with Hamburg having lost their opening two Bundesliga games by an aggregate score of 7-0.

While there was no disgrace in going down 2-0 at Borussia Dortmund on the opening weekend, alarm bells would have been ringing for Hamburg after their 5-0 home thrashing by Mainz last time out.

Leipzig can make it five in a row

Hamburg will surely produce an improved display this weekend, but their record against Leipzig is poor, as they have lost each of the last four meetings, a run that includes a 4-0 DFB-Pokal success for the Red Bulls in October 2022 – they went on to lift the trophy later that season.

Leipzig’s struggles under Demichelis have come on the road, but they were 3-0 winners over Borussia Monchengladbach in their opening home fixture and will be seeking a similar result on Sunday.

All four of Leipzig’s matches this season have featured a minimum of three goals and that trend can continue, with Hamburg capable of getting off the mark in terms of goals if not points at the Red Bull Arena.
