Baptism of fire for Turkish newcomers

RB Leipzig may have lost talismanic striker Timo Werner to Chelsea, but they have started the new campaign very impressively. Their 2-0 win at Augsburg on Saturday made it four wins and a draw from their opening five games, and they’re expected to start the Champions League campaign off with victory on Tuesday.

Istanbul Basaksehir are playing in the Champions League group stage for the first time in their history, but with PSG, Manchester United and RB Leipzig in their group their chances of progressing are very slim indeed.

It doesn’t help that the Turkish side have endured a rotten start to the season, picking up their first win at Trabzonspor on Saturday but failing to score in any of their four games prior to that.
