Real Betis lost to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa Conference League on Thursday and may not be at their sharpest in this contest with a draw looking like the best bet at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.

Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

Real Betis’s La Liga matches have averaged only 2.21 goals per game this season and this could be another low-scoring affair with 1-1 a worthwhile correct score pick.

Real Betis vs Alaves Predictions

  • Alaves have lost just one of their last six games in La Liga
  • Real Betis have drawn 11 games in La Liga this season
  • Real Betis’s league games have averaged only 2.21 goals per game this term

Alaves could capitalise on potential Betis fatigue

Real Betis slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in the first leg of their Europa Conference League knockout round playoff tie on Thursday and they may not be at their sharpest when they host Alaves on Sunday.

Betis won the shot count 16-6 and saw 61 per cent of the ball against their Croatian counterparts but failed to capitalise on their dominance.

And Manuel Pellegrini may find it tough to quickly lift his players for the visit of Alaves, who have been awkward opponents in Spain’s top flight at times this season.

Alaves have lost just one league game in 2024 – a 3-1 loss at home to Barcelona – and have taken points off the likes of Real Sociedad, Sevilla and Villarreal.

They also denied Real Betis a win when these sides met in the reverse fixture back in October and another draw could be on the cards.

Andalusians lack bite in final third

Betis have shared the spoils on 11 occasions in La Liga this season and they have generally been tight at the back, conceding only 25 goals in 24 matches.

Going forwards, however, they have lacked bite, averaging just 1.16 goals per game and Alaves, who have conceded only twice in their last four matches, should be able to restrict them.

With that in mind, the draw is the best bet and 1-1 is the way to go in the correct score market with Alaves having drawn five games by that scoreline this season.
