Real Betis vs Las Palmas Predictions

Las Palmas’ survival, which could be mathematically assured this week, has to go down as one of the stories of the season in La Liga. There were in or on the very brink of the bottom 3 for almost the entire season but a stunning run of 6 wins from 7 matches saw them move well clear of danger and their 1-1 draw with Sporting Gijon on Saturday moved them onto the magic 40 point figure with 5 games to play. More incredibly for a side that had picked up only 3 points all season on the road, they have won all of their last 4 away games and are bidding for an historic 5th straight Primera Division away win here which would be some achievement.

The Estadio Benito Villamarín is generally quite a good place to travel to as well. Betis have picked up more points away than at home and have only 4 home league wins from 16 games this season. They have lost only 1 of their last 7 at home though so the Canary Islanders will have to work very hard if they want to extend that winning streak. Betis are 2 points worse off than Las Palmas but both newly promoted clubs look set to comfortably achieve their goal of survival so should be able to reflect on good seasons this summer.

Given Betis’ home record and Las Palmas’ recent away form, you can certainly see the visitors getting something here. Those last 3 away wins have come at Villarreal, Real Sociedad and Deportivo La Coruna, which are tougher places to visit than the green and white half of Seville. Las Palmas look a solid all-round unit with strong centre-backs and just enough creative flair and goal threat to trouble sides and backing Double Chance – Las Palmas or Draw at 8/11 looks to offer real value here.
