Sassuolo to Win

Reason for tip

Salernitana have lost 10 and drawn two of their last 12 Serie A matches. Although Sassuolo have lost their last seven away league games, Davide Ballardini’s side did pick up points in three of their last five trips to bottom six clubs.

Sassuolo 2-0

Reason for tip

Sassuolo do not score many goals, but they can bag two against a demoralised home side that shipped three at Bologna last weekend. Salernitana have failed to score in four of their last six games and may struggle to make an impact against a Sassuolo side that has shipped only three goals in their last four games.

Salernitana vs Sassuolo Predictions

  • Salernitana have lost 10 and drawn two of their last 12 Serie A matches
  • Sassuolo have lost their last seven away league games but did pick up points in three of their last five trips to bottom six clubs
  • Kristian Thorsvedt has scored two goals in his last eight Serie A games and bagged twice at home to Salernitana earlier this season

Sassuolo can see off doomed Salernitana

Sassuolo have just enough form and belief to get the win they need when they meet Salernitana in a clash of Serie A’s bottom two on Friday evening.

I Neroverdi took a point from a tense clash with Udinese last weekend to stay within touching distance of the teams just above the drop zone. Davide Ballardini’s side will look to halt a seven-game losing streak away from Mapei Stadium and could not have a better chance of getting all three points.

Salernitana look doomed to relegation after losing 10 of their last 12 games, a run which has seen them cut adrift at the bottom by 10 points. They are beset by problems both on and off the field with last season’s 16-goal leading scorer Boulaye Dia refusing to play after not getting the move he wanted in January.

Demoralised hosts may fail to score again

Stefano Colantuono, Salernitana’s fourth manager of the campaign, will have seen few positives during a 3-0 defeat at Bologna in his first game in charge. The squad are simply not good enough and know they are heading back to Serie B.

Backing Sassuolo to beat the demoralised hosts looks the only play in town here with a 2-0 margin possible. Salernitana have not scored in four of their last six matches while Sassuolo have at least begun to look more solid in defence of late.

Norwegian attacker Kristian Thorsvedt, who has scored two goals in his last eight appearances and bagged a brace in the reverse fixture earlier this season, should provide some value in anytime goalscorer betting.
