Sampdoria vs Atalanta Predictions
- The hosts have now gone five consecutive games without a clean sheet.
- Both teams have scored in six of Atalanta’s last seven matches.
- The visitors could be without six of their defenders through injury once again.
End-to-end game in Samdoria
The hosts earned a crucial 2-1 at home to fellow strugglers Spezia last time. It was a result that helped push them up the league table after a very poor start to the season. Considering they finished ninth last season, they’ll need to improve in both attack and defence if they are to stand a chance of a top-half finish this time around.
As they have been all season, Sampdoria were reliant on veteran Antonio Candreva last time out as he scored the crucial winning goal. The wideman has six goal contributions in his last six SA matches (4G, 2A), and he can cause depleted Atalanta backline problems.
The visitors were denied a fifth league victory of the season thanks to a 94th minute Udinese equaliser at The Gewiss Stadium over the weekend. That result leaves Gasperini’s men just outside the Champions League qualification spots heading into these midweek games.
Leaky defence to cost the hosts
Sampdoria’s defensive issues are there for all to see. The lack of clean sheets will be alarming and they’re just far too easy to score against, particularly for the better sides in the division but teams around them have also found it relatively easy.
Atalanta will create a lot of opportunities despite their own defensive woes.
We’re expecting the visitors forward line to drag the visitors to victory, even if they do concede the odd goal.
