Sassuolo vs Palermo Predictions

These two should really be miles apart in the table right now, given Sassuolo’s excellent finish to last season. They were sixth in May, while Palermo have managed just one point at home all season. The Neroverdi topped the league early on, after winning 1-0 at Palermo on the opening day. That came as they kicked off their first ever season in Europe, which aided to a huge slump down the table.

That means there’s now only two places between these two sides, after they finished 10 places apart last season. Sassuolo’s awful form should really have them in serious relegation trouble, but they’ve been handed a lifeline by the awful displays by the current bottom sides, including Palermo, who have one win in 15 games.

It’s easy to see why Sassuolo are so far down the table. They’ve managed to win just over a quarter of their Serie A games this season, most of which came in the early stages. They’ve failed to win in 10 of their last 11 in the league, which is a big worry. Their awful form saw them out of Europe, finishing bottom of their Europa League group. It’s a far cry from the success they enjoyed last season.

Sassuolo have averaged just 0.95 points per game this season, which means that the Rosanero should be coming here eyeing up an away win. The visitors certainly need it, with seven points between them and safety at the half way stage. Palermo do have a chance of getting something here, as they’ve already picked up some decent away results so far. They’ve claimed 90% of their points this term on the road, scoring in all but one game on their travels.

However, Palermo haven’t been that great of late, losing five of their last six away games. Neither of these teams are in any kind of form, so we really struggle to back either of them to come out on top. They’ve certainly lost that winning mentality, especially with Sassuolo winning just once in their last seven at the MAPEI. We’re backing both to struggle for a win again here, as we can see them having to settle for a point. The draw is our tip, at 13/5 with bet365.
