Scotland U21 vs Northern Ireland U21 Predictions
Scotland U21 played away to France U21s on Thursday, and actually performed very well against a France squad filled to the brim with quality. They were on the verge of claiming an impressive point against the group leaders, but a quickfire double from Sebastian Haller 20 minutes from time resigned them to defeat.
This leaves Scotland U21 with five points from their five games in the UEFA U21 Championship qualifiers, putting them in 4th place in the group. Macedonia, Iceland, and France all sit above them.
The Scots are proving fairly difficult to defeat though. They have only lost two of their last eight in all competitions, but a return of two wins during that period isn’t good enough.
One of these wins was away against Northern Ireland, and has contributed towards the visitors sitting at the bottom of the group with just one points from their five games so far. This point came away to Iceland in September, and they are currently on a seven match winless streak in which they have lost six times.
The Northern Irish youth setup isn’t looking particularly good at the moment. Their 1-0 win against Cyprus U21 in 2013 is their only win in their last 19 attempts, with all but two of them ending in defeat.
Scotland U21 looked really impressive against the talented French side on Thursday, and I think they’ll definitely get a win on Tuesday. Odds of 1.725 for a Scotland -1.0 Asian Handicap Win look excellent value for money considering the visitors’ shocking record. I’m going for a 3-0 correct score prediction at 9/1 as well.
