Braga vs Fenerbahce Predictions

Last week’s clash between Sporting Braga and Fenerbahce was a fairly evenly contested affair, but the hosts eventually made use of their home advantage with an 82nd minute goal from Mehmet Topal to give them a narrow but valuable lead going into the second leg of this contest.

This defeat ended Sporting Braga’s 15 match unbeaten streak in all competitions, and they followed it up with a 3-0 loss to Belenenses on Sunday to make it back to back defeats for Braga for the first time this season.

This leaves them 4th in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and with no possibility of winning the league title, so the Europa League will be taking priority now.

Fenerbahce find themselves two points ahead of Besiktas at the top of the Turkish Super Lig, but the chasers have a game in hand. However, a domestic triumph is well within Fenerbahce’s means and they will be hoping to hold off the hosts and continue their continental quest on Thursday.

The visitors come into this match having not lost any of their last ten matches in all competitions and with seven wins to their name during this period, including their 3-1 aggregate win over Lokotmovic Moscow in the first knockout round of the Europa League.

I think Fenerbahce will try and keep it very tight at the back on Thursday. They have an excellent defensive record this season and have limited the scoring to under three goals total in six of their last eight matches in all competitions. Sporting Braga have failed to score in four of their last five matches in all competitions as well, so I think we could see a very tight match on Thursday. Odds of 4/6 for Under 2.5 Goals look like they offer a lot of value, and I’m going to back a goalless draw at 8/1 as well.
