Marseille 3-2

Reason for tip

Marseille have won all three of their away league games this season with at least three goals in each game. They will be hard to deny if they keep that up and that might against an open Strasbourg side that has scored an average of 2.2 goals per game this term

Entertaining clash in Strasbourg

A high-scoring affair seems likely when in-form Marseille head to mid-table Strasbourg on Sunday hoping to get the points that would take them clear at the top of the table.

There have been 21 goals in each of the side’s first five games of the campaign, putting them level with Paris Saint-Germain among the Ligue 1 goal averages. Liam Rosenior’s Strasbourg drew 3-3 at Lille last weekend in a thrill-a-minute affair. They were denied victory by a late penalty after turning a 3-2 deficit

Le Racing have a poor record against Marseille, having not beaten Lers Phoceens in their last 17 league meetings. But they have managed to draw the last four contests and all of them featured some goals.

Greenwood is getting goals on the road

Marseille are riding high after a superb 3-2 win at Lyon last weekend, their third away game of the season to feature four or more goals. Top scorer Mason Greenwood has made a habit of scoring on the road this term and should be backed to come up trumps again.

Roberto De Zerbi’s side play with a similar verve to his Brighton team and Strasbourg are clearly being encouraged to express themselves by their coach too.

The home side have a number of good young players that could go on to better things and may be a dangerous opponent for Marseille this weekend. That said, Marseille have players that can create and exploit space decisively so should take this one 3-2 again.
