Fresh hosts seeking a victory

The Black Cats have come into this one with an entire week to prepare for this clash having not participated in midweek action. They have been on the end of some shock results having lost both of their last two league games away to Rotherham and Coventry respectively. But they did manage to score in both of those and back on home soil, Tony Mowbray will want a reaction from his side.

The visitors have suffered defeats in three of their last four outings across all competitions and have failed to hit the back of the net in three of those. The Potters are having one of their worst seasons in recent memory and they need to focus on keeping their nine point gap to the relegation zone intact. Eight of their last 10 league outings saw at least one side fail to score and given the Potters struggles in front of goal, they could be in danger of drawing a blank.
