Both teams are currently in the drop-zone with Vitoria in 17th and America Mineiro in 20th. There is a large 10 point gap between the two sides though and America are on the verge of the point where they will be starting to plan for life in Serie B again next season. Defeat here would be a hammer blow to their hopes but they have at least been more competitive in their recent games.

They’d gone 3 games without defeat surprisingly beating Santos 1-0 for only their third win of the campaign but have suffered two morale denting defeats since. However the visitors equalised and then won the game in stoppage time thanks to an Alison own goal and mentally that must have been very tough to take.

Vitoria aren’t in much better form themselves. They’ve only won 1 of their last 9 league games to slip into the relegation zone but they remain level on points with surprise strugglers Cruzeiro and Internacional who are just outside it. They have had a tricky run of games though so it’s no great surprise they’ve fallen back but at home they are still quite strong. They’ve only lost 2 of their 10 league home games and were 2-1 winners against Coritiba in the Copa Sudamericana on Thursday night.

They will be really targeting the 3 points here and you can’t help but feel that own goal America let in late on last week might just be the final nail in their coffin. They don’t score enough goals with only 13 in the league this term from 21 games and backing Vitoria to Win 2-0 at 13/2 looks a solid punt here.
