Watford vs West Ham United Predictions

  • Both teams to score has landed in each of Watford’s last five games.
  • The Hornets are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Premier League.
  • Both teams to score has landed in West Ham’s last two games.
  • West Ham will be playing their third game in six days, Watford’s last fixture was on December 10.

Out of form pair meet on Tuesday

West Ham have hit a real rough patch in form but Tuesday’s trip to Watford may be an opportunity for them to stop the rot.

The Hornets have lost their last four games but this is their first fixture in over two weeks due to coronavirus-related postponements.

Watford do have a number of players available again but they still have plenty of absentees with Nicolas Nkoulou, Francisco Sierralta, Peter Etebo, Ben Foster and Ismaila Sarr set to miss out through injury, while West Ham will be without Aaron Cresswell, Kurt Zouma and Angelo Ogbonna.

Go for goals at Vicarage Road

With Watford going into this game after an extended break and the Hammers in poor form, going for a result isn’t the most appealing option for our main bet but both teams to score stands out.

There have been goals at both ends in each of the Hornets’ last five games and they haven’t managed a clean sheet in the Premier League all season. Both teams to score has landed in West Ham’s last two games and they have conceded in seven of their last 10 away games in all competitions. Watford have found goals hard to come by at Vicarage Road and they are averaging just 1.25 per-game at home in the league, but they have scored in each of their last three so both teams to find the back of the net looks a strong play in this match-up.

Rested Hornets worth the risk

Watford haven’t played since December 10 and during that time West Ham have played four games, while this will be their third outing in a six-day period. Making a case for either of these teams to win based on current form is a difficult task, but purely on the basis that the hosts should be the fresher of the two sides I feel Watford could pull off a minor shock. As such, a 2-1 for Claudio Ranieri’s men has a chance in the correct score market, as Watford have scored six goals in total in their last three home games and West Ham are averaging one goal per-game over the course of their last 10 games in all competitions.

Finally, Watford’s Nigerian forward Emmanuel Dennis looks a contender for an anytime goal. The 24-year-old has seven goals in 15 Premier League games this season and four of those have come in his last five appearances, only failing to score against Manchester City.

Watford predicted lineup: Bachmann, Femenia, Troost-Ekong, Cathcart, Rose, Sissoko, Kucka, Pedro, Cleverley, King, Dennis

West Ham predicted lineup: Fabianski, Coufal, Dawson, Diop, Johnson, Rice, Soucek, Bowen, Lanzini, Benrahma, Antonio
