Millwall Double Chance (Win or Draw)

      Reason for tip

Millwall have started the season in excellent fashion and look set to take something from their trip to Southampton, who ahve yet to find their feet after their expulsion from last season’s Championship playoffs.

      Millwall 1-0

      Reason for tip

The Millwall defence has been in superb form with three successive clean sheets and they can extend that run by winning at St Mary’s by the odd goal.

      Southampton vs Millwall Predictions

      • Seven of Millwall’s last eight games have finished with fewer than three goals
      • The Lions have kept a clean sheet in each of their last three games
      • Alex Neil’s team are unbeaten in their last 13 Championship away matches

      Saints’ issues cannot be ignored

Southampton look to be feeling their way into the new season and that is hardly a surprise for a club still reeling from their expulsion from May’s Championship playoffs.

The Saints are banking on a siege mentality seeing them to glory this term, but they lost their opener 2-1 at Watford and while a 3-1 home success over Stoke steadied the ship, they need to pick themselves up from a 4-1 Carabao Cup defeat against West Ham on Wednesday.

We still don’t know what we are going to get from the south-coast outfit, which means they are difficult to trust, especially against a Millwall team who have set off in fine fashion.

Lions enjoying being top of the table

The Lions appear to be quietly going about their business and find themselves at the top of the table following a 2-0 win at Bristol City and 3-0 success over Norwich, when they were already two goals ahead when the Canaries were reduced to ten men.

Three successive clean sheets – they won 1-0 at Cambridge in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday – and a strong away record mean they are good value on the double-chance market with correct-score punters pointed towards a 1-0 success for the visitors.
