Yeovil Town vs Stevenage Predictions

  • Yeovil have drawn three of their last five home games.
  • Stevenage have drawn their last three away games.
  • Stevenage have won only one of their last ten away FA Cup ties.
  • Yeovil have failed to win any of their last five home FA Cup ties in 90 minutes.

Tisdale taking over at right time for Boro’s cup hopes

Stevenage’s appointment of Paul Tisdale could just give them the lift they need to avoid a minor giant-killing in this second round clash with Yeovil Town at Huish Park.

The experienced former Exeter City boss has found success a little tougher to come by in his last couple of jobs, but he took the Grecians as far as the third round in 2016 and 2018 while also guiding Bristol Rovers to the same stage last season.

The Boro are unbeaten in their last three coming into this with a league win over Colchester and a 2-2 draw at Rochdale achieved under interim boss Robbie O’Keefe. Tisdale oversaw the EFL Trophy exit to Sutton in midweek after a penalty-shoot, so should have an idea of what he has to work with now.

Stevenage must contain Glovers’ early gusto

They will need to start well against a Yeovil side that have hit a bit of form of late and look to be great front-runners.

The Glovers have won their last six when taking the lead, including wins at Bromley and Wrexham – both currently placed in the National League’s top seven.

The visitors are likely to come in with a fairly conservative gameplan to put the onus on the hosts to come onto them and therefore, we aren’t expecting this to be an end-to-end affair with lots of chances and goals.

Stevenage have scored four goals in their last three road trips and, as Yeovil have only kept one clean sheet in their last six, we feel a 1-1 scoreline offers the best chance of a return in correct score markets.
